One of my favorite things about visiting different yarn shops, is finding new yarns that provide instant inspiration. That is exactly what happened when I found Daisy at Knit or Knot Yarns in Jupiter, FL. I’m a sucker for anything linen and Daisy’s blend of linen, silk, and hemp was an exciting discovery for me. I was swatching and casting on in no time. I planned to focus on my own yarns for designs, but Daisy was too nice to pass up. This design utilizes basic sweater techniques: mattress stitch, picking-up sts, and three-needle bind off. I-Cord CO and BO are also used.

22 sts and 28 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Textured Stk st on US 5 (3.75mm) or US 6 (4mm), or size needed to obtain gauge, after wet-blocking.

This pullover uses a Textured Stk st, which means every other row is knitting tbl (through the back loop) or “twisted”. You can use basic Stk st instead, just be sure your gauge is correct. For this design, you start with an I-Cord CO and begin working in the round. At the underarm, the Body is separated and worked as Front and Back pieces, which are then seamed at the Shoulder using three-needle bind off. I do find three-needle BO creates a more stable seam, especially for plant-based yarns. If you want to add length to the Body, you can repeat any of the rows in that section, before separating at the underarm. The Neck Trim is picked-up and knitted in-the-round using an I-Cord BO. Once the sleeve stitches are picked-up, they are knitted in the round. The sleeves, as written, are 3/4 length for most people (I have a freakishly long wingspan). If you want short/cap sleeves, you can work the I-Cord BO immediately after picking up the Sleeve sts. The (optional) accent of CC on the Sides is created using Surface Crochet. I get asked about sizing quite often. For this design, I recommend 2-6” of positive ease (this means you add that amount to your ACTUAL bust measurement (the widest part) and that will give you the Finished Measurement size you should choose. You can choose a size with more ease, if you prefer a Pullover fit versus a Tee.
